The NFL season will come to an end tonight, with either the New Orleans Saints or the Indianapolis Colts as champions. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees lead their teams into Miami hoping that it is their team carrying the Lombardi trophy of the field.
The NFL's MVP Peyton Manning leads the number 9 ranked offense against the #25 defense. After tearing through the top defense against the pass in the AFC Championship game, expect an even bigger day from Manning, Garcon, Clark, Collie, and Wayne today. They will have to make sure to hold on to the football, as the Saints forced the third most INT in the NFL this year.
The Saints have the best offense in the NFL this year, thanks to a well balanced attack. Not only has Drew Brees passed for over 4000 yards, but the Saints also boast the 6th best rushing attack. The Colts D needs Dwight Freeney to be healthy to have any chance at slowing Brees and Co. down. Indy's cover 2 scheme could stop New Orleans' big play passing game, which has consistently been a huge source of points for them.
I expect a high scoring game, as both of these teams have a top 3 passing offense. In my opinion, it comes down to running the ball and defense. I think Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush have a big day on the ground behind the Saints big offensive line, which will wear down the undersized Indy D. The Saints will also control the clock enough to keep Manning off the field. (But don't sleep on the Colts D. I can see them having a huge impact on this game with their speed.)
Manning out plays Brees, but forced turnovers and the run game leads the Saints to a 31-28 victory. I'm going to say Reggie Bush takes home MVP honors, and send the city of New Orleans in to a big celebration.
