News from the past month

I've been working on mostly NFL stuff lately, and in that time there has been some college new I haven't covered. Here's a run down:
  • The Big 10 is looking to add Texas and Nebraska says they will listen if the Big 10 inquires about adding them.
  • Heisman candidate and possible first round pick for 2011, Ryan Mallett is out for the next 3-4 months after breaking his foot. He will miss all of spring practice, and should be ready for the start of fall camp.
  • Ole Miss player Bennie Abram passed away Friday during a team workout. May he RIP.
  • Oregon running back La Michael James has been arrested on charges of strangulation, assault and menecing. James set the Pac 10 freshman rushing record last season with 1,546 yards. He also scored 14 touchdowns, leading the Ducks to a Pac 10 championship.
  • California has hired former Chiefs and Cardinals Defensive Coordinator Clancey Pendergast to the same position.
  • Florida State and Bobby Bowden has been docked 12 wins from the 06-07 seasons after NCAA investigations into academic fraud. As you may remember, before their appearance in the 2007 Music City Bowl multiple players were suspended stemming from this scandel.
