Chris Mortenson of ESPN reports the Seattle Seahawks (who fired Head Coach Jim Mora today) are "targeting" Pete Carroll to be their new head coach. The interest is supposedly mutual. Carroll was a head coach in the NFL previously, posting a 33-31 record in 4 seasons with the Jets and Patriots in the mid 90's.
Carroll is/was the man who returned USC back into national prominence, winning 2 National Championships, 7 BCS bowl appearance in 9 seasons and 6 Pac 10 titles. Under his watch, USC has produced 25 1st team All Americans and 14 1st round picks. If he does in fact leave for Seattle, College Football will lose an all time great coach to the NFL.
Mike Riley would be the likely man to take over the Trojans if Carroll leaves, according to Bruce Feldman. Riley was their Offensive Coordinator from 1993-96 and is currently the head coach at Oregon State.
Back with more latter if anything happens.
