Florida captures BCS, AP crown

Fans in Utah, So. Cal, and Texas can cry all they want, but there will be no split National Champion. Florida was the best team this season, no matter what Pete Carroll, Kyle Wittingham, and Mack Brown might say about their teams. Florida made it through the SEC with only one loss, and were a made extra point away from from taking that game to overtime against Ole Miss. That was not a bad lose, especially when you consider Ole Miss defeating Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. The Gators defeated 3 of the top ten teams in the final coach's poll, as well as seven other teams that made bowl games, along the way to their third National championship.

Here is my case against the rest-

USC- After sleepwalking through a September loss to Oregon State, the Trojans were unable to get any love from pollsters, probably due to the undeserved poor perception of the Pac-10 conference. Of the three teams with a gripe, SC probably has the strongest case, but I do not believe a team whose most impressive win away from LA was beating Arizona by seven points is deserving of a National Title.

Utah- With big victories over TCU and Alabama the undefeated Utes feel they deserve a chance at a national championship. But let's be honest: who outside of Utah thinks the Utes could hang with the likes of Florida, USC, and Texas. Their schedule outside of 'Bama, TCU, BYU, and Oregon State is rather unimpressive, and greatly inferior to the other three teams. The best team Utah beat on the road:Air Force. Enough said.

Texas- An unimpressive showing against Ohio State is what keeps Texas from splitting the National Championship. Outplayed for three and a half quarters by an arguably undeserving BCS team, their head to head win over Oklahoma isn't enough. Had Oklahoma beat Florida, the Longhorns would have a better argument, but that didn't happen.(On a side note, I thought Oklahoma deserved to be in the championship game because it wasn't just Texas and Oklahoma involved, Texas Tech was too.)
